Speaking Softly and Carrying a Very Little Stick

Many people have been scratching their heads or even tearing out their hair trying to understand why the Democratic Party has been compliant and complicit in the face of the outrageous dictatorial and fascist moves of the Bush/Cheney regime and of the GOP more generally. Now that the Democrats have been given an unmistakable mandate by the November 2006 elections to get the U.S. out of Iraq and to hold the White House accountable, the Democratic Party leadership nonetheless continues to speak softly and carry a very little stick.
