I'm going to be a guest of Michael Slate on KPFK today 90.7 FM, Tuesday, 9/16/08 at 5 pm PST. I'll be on for about 20 minutes, talking mostly about my recent article posted here. I listened to your discussion on the internet archives. I found it very interesting, especially with the election coming in just under two months now. Let me explain, I was having a discussion with a coworker at work the other day about how I cannot vote for either major party candidate. She asked me who I would vote for, I responded with I would probably just write in Kucinich, or Mickey Mouse, Peter Griffin, or something like that, and she was appalled that I would do that. She tried to explain that I should vote for the lesser of two evils, but I do not want to vote for someone who I think is evil. I want to vote for someone who I know will get the job done, who will turn our economy around, who will end this imperialist surge throughout the US, and someone who will unify the world, not dismantle it. Unfortunately, there does not seem to be a candidate running in this election that will do any of the above listed things. Especially since after reading your blogs, and listening to your radio discussion that McCain and Obama are two sides of the same coin. Either way wer're all screwed, unless America somehow pulls their head out of their ass and wakes up to what is really going on in politics today.

Yes, no one who would do the things you want to see is a viable candidate. The two major party candidates who would have tried to do much of what you want -Dennis Kucinich and Mike Gravel, both Democrats - were excluded from serious consideration by the media and by the Democratic Party, even though their platforms actually are closer to what a majority of Americans want than any of the others!

This is one of the ways that political rule is exercised by elites - excluding from real consideration (keeping them out of major debates, treating them as "out of the mainstream," etc.) people who represent a threat, no matter how mild. Think about how Howard Dean was run out of the race in 2004.

The only real chance for us is for a mass movement of the people to come together. And that takes individuals like yourself taking a public stand and calling on others to do the same.

Your comment reminds me of the SNL skit from last Saturday, where Palin and Clinton address the nation, I don't know if you have seen it, it was quite hilarious. In the skit, Palin makes the comment that anyone can make to the White House, all you have to do is want it, as Clinton laughs histerically; but that's not true is it? This is kind of like when a child finds out that the Easter Bunny, or Santa Clause, is not real. The media and politicians will tell you that with hard work and determination, you can accomplish anything; to a certain degree that is true. However, obviously the elites have a monopoly over the Presidential election. I dare ask, who was the last non-elite to make it to the White House? Lincoln, maybe?

Andrew Jackson's the only US president to come from a truly humble background.
